Trash Policy

Our trash is picked up by the city every Tuesday morning. If a holiday falls on a Monday, trash will be picked up a day late, i.e. Wednesday morning. Please check with the Mayor's Action Committee or www.indy.gov for more information.

Trash carts are provided by the city and should be rolled up to the curb by 7a.m. on Tuesday morning. All trash must be put into a bag before placed in your trash cart to avoid fly-away debris being left behind. Keep your cart at least 3ft. from mailboxes and address signs to avoid damage that can occur with the mechanical arms on the trash truck. Bring your trash cart back up to your condo as soon as you are able, as the wind may blow the cart into the street. If your cart needs repair, contact www.indy.gov to request a new one be delivered to you.

Heavy trash is picked up on the Tuesday of the SECOND full week of every month. Each resident is allowed 2 large items.

Need extra help with getting your trash cart to the street, help is available.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Elderly and Special Needs Accommodations are available to you. With ADA trash collection services, a walk-up service will be provided if a resident meets the requirements and needs assistance with moving their trash cart. Also, a smaller 65-gallon cart is available for residents who require special accommodations and are unable to manage the larger trash cart. Please contact the Mayor's Action Center at (317) 327-4622 if you require either of these special needs accommodations.
